Popis - INFINITE TRUMPET:
MALCOLM MCNAB'S new CD, 'THE INFINITE TRUMPET' is the second solo CD release from one of the most recorded trumpet sounds in history. You have heard his horn many times over the last 40 years on movie and television soundtracks. In his many years as a studio musician, Malcolm McNab has played on over 2000 soundtracks and has performed with everyone from Aaron Copland to Frank Zappa. His solo trumpet is featured in soundtracks such as Dances with Wolves, LA Confidential, The Last Castle, Jaws, Independence Day and Air Force One. His first CD, 'EXQUISITE-THE ARTISTRY OF MALCOLM MCNAB' was released in 2006 and has enjoyed unanimous acclaim among critics and fellow musicians alike. “The Infinite Trumpet” is the result of Malcolm’s continued dream to create exceptional solo trumpet recordings that not only feature his incomparable technique but also his unmatched melodic lyricism. To help Malcolm realize his vision, he collaborated with Ayke Agus who served as Jascha Heifetz’s personal assistant and accompanist for over 15 years. Ayke, who is equally at home on the violin as she is on the piano, serves as the perfect collaborator. Because of her association with Heifetz, her musical insights enhance the authenticity of these performances. “The Infinite Trumpet” features brilliant yet expressive performances of pieces originally composed for violin by composers such as Saint-Saens, Paganini , Wieniawski, Kreisler, Tchiakovsky, Drigo , and Ponce. An integral contributor to “The Infinite Trumpet” is producer Gary Grant who also produced “Exquisite”. Gary, a master trumpeter himself, has also produced CDs for Wayne Bergeron and Arturo Sandoval. Original cover art and CD booklet design is by Tom Nikosey. The booklet includes 'Behind a Trumpet', the story of Malcolm's life with a trumpet, in his own words. ****************************************************************************************************************************************** FIRST REVIEWS I received the disc last week and have had a chance for a couple of times through. Besides being astounding, it's beautiful and touching. I'm so anxious to play it for some violinist friends to astound them again as per one of the BSO violinists I played the Tchaikovsky Concerto for last year...she's Russian and a fierce critic and she loved it...couldn't believe how a trumpet could play more idiomatically Russian than most of her American colleagues. Wait 'til she hears this. I particularly like the Tchaikovsky on the new album, by the way. RICHARD MACKEY Boston Symphony ****************************************************************************************************************************************** Malcolm's new cd, 'The Infinite Trumpet', means infinite class, infinite mastery, infinite musical possibilities to be played on the trumpet as only Malcolm McNab can do. Literally astounding! ANDREA TOFANELLI Professor of Trumpet and Jazz Workshop Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali O. Vecchi - A. Tonelli' in Modena Italy Artistic Director of the 'Dean Benedetti Jazz Festival' Italy ******************************************************************************************************************************************* Malcolm McNab's new CD, 'The Infinite Trumpet', is just another confirmation to me that I'm very happy that I did not try to pursue a career as a classical trumpet player. I just cannot figure how on earth he manages to play things that are impossible to the rest of us. The guy is not human, I guess! BOBBY SHEW ****************************************************************************************************************************************** As with 'Exquisite,' 'The Infinite Trumpet' is, to me, an inspiration and exhibition of artistry that goes way beyond the playing of the trumpet. Malcolm performs these marvelous classic pieces to the level of the finest offerings of the great vocal and violin masters, and Ayke Agus proves the perfect accompanist. As I play this recording again and again, I continue to discover layers of beauty in Malcolm's performances, the finest subtleties that define the differences between technical skills and musical magnificence. MARVIN STAMM *************************************************************************************************************************************** Your new CD, 'The Infinite Trumpet' is an absolute delight. At first, from a trumpeter's standpoint, it is at once, infinitely inspiring ('oh my gosh, I would love to play like that') and infinitely depressing ('who are you kidding, you will never get that good'). But after that cathartic experience, you just give up and listen to some of the most lovely music played in a most loving way - the instrument ceases to be important. And isn't that really an arrival? I should think so. Trumpeters will learn much from this - just hearing the way you play the horn sets examples for what must be possible - and challenges our perceptions of what can and cannot be done. Your playing teaches us something by osmosis and it may take numerous hearings from us to believe and try to emulate. It is a gift. To non-trumpeters (oh, that blessed lot), all they will hear is the music. And they will like it. They'll tell you they don't know anything about music, but they will come back to this again and again. They know. I would imagine that you may already be thinking about your next project - enjoy - we will look forward to hearing the extended fruits of your passion.
