ORCUSTUS is a black metal band formed in Bergen, Norway, in early 2002 by vocalist and songwriter TAIPAN. Derived from Orcus, meaning Hades or Hell, the band name was taken from an early 1990s underground fanzine of the same name published by former Emperor drummer Bard Faust. Co-founding members of the band were GORGOROTH guitarists TORRMENTOR and INFERNUS, and drummer DIRGE REP of ENSLAVED/GEHENNA. In 2007/2008 Orcustus triumphed over many obstacles and psycho-logical trauma to lay down the filth that is this, their eponymous full-length debut album. Cloaked in black mystery and veiled in dark secrecy the beast that is Orcustus has left a noxious rotting corpse for the rabid hordes of evil to devour.
