Following in the path of the Motown Chartbusters series Universal are pleased to present the first in a new series of collections focusing on this iconic label.
Motown Floorshakers provides the listener with a great introduction to a Soul music style that emerged from the British mod scene in northern England during the late 60s. Initially fuelled by a wealth of fast-paced Motown tracks and songs in a similar vein, the scene quickly developed an appetite for obscure releases as DJs fought to outdo one another with rarer and rarer records. 40 years on the scene still attracts new and old supporters alike.
Compiled by Motown fan DJ Jo Wallace, this album mixes Motown legends including Diana Ross, the Four Tops and Marvin Gaye to lesser-known artists made famous by the genre including O C Smith and Frank Wilson. The collection includes detailed sleeve notes featuring the stories behind the selections and will appeal to both novices to the genre and crate-diggers alike.
