Hailing from southern California, The Summer Hits formed in the early '90s. Taking influence from '60s psych rock and late '80s bands such as Loop and Spacemen 3, The Summer Hits forged their own brand of art-damaged distorted melodic fuzz pop. They released a number of 7-inches s on various small labels before disbanding in the late '90s. Their singles became almost non-existent until a CD comp was self-released in 1997, followed by a cassette-only release through Burger Records in 2012 (both out of print now as well). Now, for the first time, this crucial compilation gets its deserved vinyl reissue. After The Summer Hits split up, the members went on to play in bands such as Further, Beachwood Sparks and The Tyde.
