This collection features some of the biggest stars of the Pachuco Mambo genre (the Mexican-American dance craze that started in the late '30s and alternated and combined Afro-American and Afro-Caribbean styles). Included are tracks by Mexican-American composer Don Tosti and Lalo Guerrero from Arizona. Both were pivotal figures in creating Mexican blues jump: the Pachuco Mambo or boogie, which used rhythms of swing, boogie woogie and Rumba with lyrics in Spanglish and in Caló, the Spanglish language of the Pachucos.
