Anarja - the Winter's Tale is a CD filled with music which is a cross over between the avante gard and traditional jazz. There are some traditional jazz moments especially in Scarborough Fair, Stardust, and Gareths Fantastic Dream. There are free improvizations which are melancholy in nature, such as Song for December and Leaving London and some flute playing which includes singing in Winter's Tale. There is even a cat who joins in. If you listen carefully you will hear my favourite boy...Mr. Moses (the cat) sharing his talent with us as well. Harmonically the music is out there a bit...but this is enjoyable listening. If you want to stretch your ears and still not leave your comfort zone..this is the CD for you. Often sounding like a cross between Keith Jarret, Miles Davis (the earlier years) and Hubert Laws this CD is quite interesting and enjoyable. Why not feel your ears and give this CD a go.....you won't regret it........
