Popis - BUT BEAUTIFUL:
I am thrilled to release my debut album 'But Beautfiul' and was inspired by the great ladies of Jazz: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen MacRae, Nina Simone and Lena Horne, their life stories and brilliance, hence the title 'But Beautiful' came to mind from one of the songs I recorded on this album. This song really spoke to me and the songs that followed, carefully chosen and recorded with these beautiful and amazingly talented ladies in mind, who endured so much in their lives. I attempt to transmit their pain, love, joy, loss and heart break through my interpretations. Each song presents at least one of these emotions, if not all combined! ' Monica is inspired by such legends as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, NIna Simone, Carmen MacRae and Lena Horne but makes the music she sings very much her own. Her voice is distinct and unforgetteable.' Over the past year, she has been working with iconic music producer/pianist Bill King, who produced her debut jazz album 'But Beautiful', and has now been released on CD Baby and will be released on iTunes, Amazon, Archombolt, Spotify and other great music sites by mid June,2013. Bill put the finest renowned musicians in Canada on this album: Bill KIng (piano), Duncan Hopkins (bass), Mark Kelso (drums), William Sperandei (trumpet), Anne Lindsay (violin), Reg Schwager (guitar) and Luis Jorge Papiosco (percussion) and was recorded at Inception Sound Studios, Toronto, engineered by the amazing Michael Haas.
