When John Cale was invited to the Rockpalast Festival on October 14, 1984, he had just released the desolate 'Music For A New Society' (1982), 'Caribbean Sunset' (1983) and the live album 'John Cale Comes Alive' (1984). In contrast to the latter official live album, Cale's performance at Rockpalast was far more intense, desperate and unbridled. To this day, this performance represents one of the most remarkable and spectacular concerts in the history of Rockpalast. In sharp, charming contrast to this concert however, is his solo concert, which was recorded in the Zeche in Bochum on March 6, 1983, showing an introverted musician: a man and his guitar and piano captivate with the best songs of his career.
