Popis - DANCE WITH THE..:
Officially released for the first time with an LP miniature sleeve, liner notes (Korean) and photo card. Originally released in 1971. In the late-1960s and the early-1970s, the Eighth U.S. Army was the biggest stage in Korea, only for the best of the best. And the six-man group Idol (or Aideul, a homophone with "kids" in Korean), despite being comprised of all teenagers, played there regularly, which was a sign of their enormous talents. Like most albums at the time, 'Dance With Idol/Dear Wind' is filled with covers, but the selection is very eclectic. Included are songs by the Bee Gees, Neil Diamond, The Temptations, Edwin Starr, Jimi Hendrix, and The Guess Who. Their rendition of 'Purple Haze' is particularly interesting, as it was not covered very often in Korea. Considering that the entire album was recorded in one day, it is understandable that their version of 'Purple Haze' contains a few mistakes; and although it pales in comparison to Hendrix' original, their confidence to tackle this revered classic is impressive. Beside covers, Idol also recorded a couple of original songs which made clear that they also showed an interest in black American music. This album is particularly noteworthy for being the first recordings made by Choi I-Cheol, who went on to enjoy an amazingly successful career, becoming one of the true greats of Korean rock. It is fascinating to listen to his earliest work here, making 'Dance With Idol/Dear Wind' a truly seminal album.
