The flute quartet 4 tempi was born in 2008 with four young artists meeting at the Royal Conservatoire of Mons in the class of Marc Grauwels, a soloist with an international reputation. Angéline Ray, French, Charlotte Udo Kjeldsberg, Norwegian, Kristina De Troyer, Belgian, and Nozomi, Kanda, Japanese wished to start a chamber music formation after their studies to explore all the possibilities of their instrument, by an audacious and diverting repertoire and introduce it to the public at large. Their project consists in exploring a flute repertoire only little known, but also adapting works for chamber music composed for other instruments and in proposing a programme mixing both classical and contemporary composers, foremost European. The culture, the richness, the technique, the sonority and the approach to the music of each artist of this international quartet blend in a brilliant and original formation which aims at promoting the chamber music on a European scale. 'The Four Reasons' highlights all this.
