By the mid-1980's Tshala had established a solid reputation in Zaire, Europe and West Africa for her languid dance rhythm, the mutuashi. Until the mid-80s she doubted her own ability (a female singer with a non-rumba rhythm) but a return to Kinshasa in 1986 from her Parisian base convinced her. By 1990 Tshala was clearly in the top half dozen of younger Zairean stars with several No.1 albums in the UK African charts and a reputation stretching from Senegal to Zambia. On this 'Best Of'-comp most of her classics are compiled including her megahit 'Nasi Nabili'.
